The History of the Company

Bensbargains.com was founded in 2000 by Ben Yadegar. At that time, Yadegar was a student at the University of California, Los Angeles, and was passionate about finding good deals. He started the website as a hobby, but it quickly gained popularity. By 2005, the website was receiving 100,000 visitors per month, and by 2010, that number had increased to over 1 million per month.

Nowadays, Bensbargains is a major player in the online deals market, with over 2 million registered users and over 20 million monthly page views. The website is updated constantly, with deals from more than 2,000 stores.

Ben's Bargains Website Navigation

Categories

Hover your mouse over the Categories tab at the top of the page to select general categories or more specific subcategories for which you would like to see offers. It is useful if you are looking for something specific (for example, a laptop or a pair of men's shoes).

Brands

Hover the mouse pointer over the Brands tab at the top of the page to see the offers of specific brands. The most popular brands are listed on the first page, or you can click All Brands at the bottom to see a more complete list.

Shops

Hover your mouse over the Stores tab at the top of the page to see the offers of specific stores. The main stores are listed, but you can click All Stores at the bottom to see the full list.

Blog

This tab will take you to our blog, The Checkout. Here you will find all kinds of articles about online shopping trends, new products, holiday gift guides and lots and lots of boring stuff about Star Wars.
Some of our Ben's editors also write for The Checkout. This is a great place to share more detailed information that we can't fit into deal messages.

Search

Enter any keyword in the search box at the top of the website (for example, “4K HDTV”). On the search results page, you can filter by store, price and category. You can also choose whether you want to see expired posts in the results.

Exploring the Deals Panel

Deal Price

The big green price in the right corner is the final sale price after applying any coupon codes and discounts to the items in the cart. Please note that we do not include sales tax, as it is different for each state.

Retail Price

No matter how it may seem, we do not take retail prices out of thin air! We always use what the store listed on the product page, even if it seems exaggerated or frankly ridiculous. We are all mainly interested in the final transaction price (the price you see in orange) and how it compares to other prices on the Internet.

If the store does not specify the retail price on its product page, we search Google to find it elsewhere.
From time to time, you may see an offer that does not specify a retail price — this means that the price is good compared to other stores, but we could not find a retail price for it anywhere.

Ben's Price History

Under the big orange Go to Store button in each deal for a specific product, you will see one of three things:

1) Green Price Reduction: this means that the product is being sold at a lower price than the last time we posted it on Ben's. Click on Price Reduction to open a graph showing the previous prices for this item in Ben's store, as well as the dates when they were published.
2) Gray Price History: this means that the product was placed on Ben's at the same price or slightly higher earlier. Click on Price History to open the price history chart.
3) Nothing: If the product has never been published on Ben's before, the price history area will be empty and the price history chart will be unavailable.

Reading Comments

You can read the comments by clicking Comments at the bottom of the offer page. You can access comments on previous posts by following these steps:

1) Click Comments
2) Scroll down to the Price and Comment History section.
3) If they are hidden, click the speech bubble icons to read the old comments.

Deal Alerts

If you missed a deal and want to make sure you immediately see it the next time it is published on Ben's, click Set a Deal Alert right above the orange Go to Store button. You will receive an email as soon as Ben has it again. You can add/remove deal alerts here. You can even set them up so that they notify you when certain keywords are published (for example, “55-inch 4K HDTV”).

Report Expired Deals

If you notice something wrong with one of our deals, you can let us know by clicking the Report link in the central lower part of the deal window.

Heat Meter

You can find the heat meter in the lower left part of the deal window. Blue means cold, yellow means warm, and red means hot or scalding.
The popularity meter is determined by several factors: how many people click on a post, how new it is (the popularity of posts decreases over time), and whether it has a Ben's Best award.

Hottest and Newest Channels

There are two ways to sort Ben's deal feed: by the hottest or by the newest. You can change your view by selecting one of the tabs at the top of the deals feed.

The newest ones are our latest offers (the ones most recently published). Hot will display the "hot" offers at the top (the most popular).

Adding Filters

Filters allow you to highlight certain deals in the feed. For example, you can view only current laptop offers by selecting laptops from the filter menu.

You can add/remove deal notification filters by clicking Add Filters above the deal feed. Simply click the desired product categories or click advanced search to search for specific terms.

Ben's Best Deals

The Ben's Best Deals carousel at the top of the page shows some of the best deals of the day (usually 12). Clicking on the slides will take you to the deal messages for these offers.

For those who prefer to access deals on the go, Bensbargains also offers a mobile app. The app is available for both iOS and Android devices and can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
