Lots to like with them after moving from a competitor. Value pricing and they are way better at batting off fake DMCA notices and take due care to only follow through if it's correct and valid. Other hosts take clearly abusive reports and treat them seriously.
I live in India and have had no issues with their services including deploying servers worldwide. Not sure about what the others are ranting about but my experience was smooth. I have been using their services since years and its all smooth.

i just got one small vps in singapore, as linode was kinda cheapest and had 1 GB uplink. if you´re renting a bigger vps, then you got a bigger uplink. i also run an openvpn client on that machine. the disadvantage is a long reboot and the expensive traffic. 1 TB is free which is compared to german vps quite low. mostly in germany i got 20-80tb and more. so if you have a bunch of traffic.. it can be pricey. be aware. also in case you get hacked and the server is used as an ddos. so make sure you set the firewall correct to avoid this. i enjoy the backend firewall, where you can be sure your traffic routes intended. as i just use it as a proxy, i set the output just to my backend servers. same as mail to my mailservers. so basically everybody could avoid sending spam, in case of getting hacked. but if you secure your server properly you can avoid this problem. or just set the backend firewall with the ssh ports for your own ip. and change it if needed. i´ve also contacted the support quite often and i must say, they were quite helpful. i was often lucky to have them. e.g. kernel change or other random related linode questions. if you want to make a snapchot, you have to pay for each GB you use. in my case the vps + snapchot isn´t more than 6$ monthly, as my server just has 5GB in use. to be honest the registration was kinda difficult. i´ve tried 3 different credit cards. company and private. germany and abroad. all where rejected. but after i´ve contacted the support manually, they granted access. it´s a good thing to avoid spammers from renting a vps. over all i´m okay with the asian vps. for singapore the price is okay. for germany i have chosen other companies, as they were cheaper and the servers had more power and outgoing traffic. in some regions linode has a local network, which is quite handy if you want to connect multiple servers. for people, who have low traffic.. linode could be an option. if i´m not mistaken and you rent a few linodes, the traffic adds up, so one server could have more than 1 TB while others have less. people who wanted to test linode, they may still have a 100$ trial. make sure before you quit to cancel all servers, images etc. otherwise they may continue charging you.
Well linode is ok!! but they need to be a little faster with the support so i -1 star due to the fact that support could be slow. but it's 100% human support so that is expected. You need to have some basic knowledge on linux os. It's not for newbies . Since its not fully managed like other hosting providers. I think most of the negative reviews are bit misleading since it hold no real bases . Linode is pretty very much reliable. It's very easy to use. For newbies please use the marketplace . it makes life much easier for you. For experts Installing your own distro . is better for me. Anyways 4 out of 5. Linode is ok.!
I have been hosting multiple VPSs for different projects, as well as running a web-hosting business for 4 years until the pandemic hit. I was being charged either separately for services, or from multiple service providers. As I web host/design I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos, and it was there I found Linode. At first I was going to have all my projects on multiple small Linodes, then came to the realisation - these are all low traffic - and if one project needed to break away to a new Linode - then that would be the case. The provisioning of Linodes is intuitive, the billing is simple, and you have FULL access to the Linode - so you have complete control over the 'server'. I was having issues sending email - and after a day of searching the web - I realised that Linode restricts those - for good reason. A ticket later, and everything is up and running. Linode is not for the faint-hearted - you are left on your own - but this is for developers by developers, if you don't know how to setup a Linux Server - then this service is not for you, as the Linodes (servers) are unmanaged - that is, you break it - you fix it.
They are pretty expensive, and VPS performance has lots of room for improvement, but overall it's an efficient solution for servers. Staff are friendly. Will probably use again in the future.
I signed up for Linode and had a false positive fraudulent activity notification after signup. I sent and an email and received no response after 2 days. As infuriating as that was I loaded 10 dollars call time and called them, spoke to a lady named Abrose or Amber, cant remember for sure. I recieved curteous and professional service. Just for this, I will choose Linode.
Great hosting company and their technical support is very good. If you know how to manage your own servers with a little bit of support from time to time, then Linode is a great option.
