Last The Book Depository Reviews from

Hi All. I dont often bother write reviews, mainly because I believe that a certain level of customer service is a basic expectation and as such does not merit review. That being said, when the expectation is low due to other reviews and your own experience is very different, then I believe that it is only fair to make a point of making people aware of this fact. I recently ordered an expensive book online from the Book Depository, and if I'm honest, I read the negative reviews and was reluctant to place the order. It was only because other options were limited that i did so. I therefore feel obligated to advise of my peronal experience which was overwhelmingly positive. I placed the order and received immediate confirmation via my email that the order had been placed and thanking me for my custom. I then received an anticipated delivery date, which was exactly as advised when I placed my order and approximately two weeks ahead. So far two for two. Within a few days I received an email advising that my order had shipped and with the same delivery dates, so again, all good and encouraging. Today, some 7-days prior to the advised delivery date, I received my book! It is in perfect condition and exactly as ordered, so full marks and 5-stars to Book Depository for performance way better than expected. I am very satisfied. I obviously can not comment on the previous negative reviews, but if it helps anyone make a decision to place an order, then I am happy to confirm that my own experience could not have been any better. Thank you.

I just ordered a book, then read reviews about this company.....Ive filled in the online cancellation form as I do not think this company is trust worthy. I am worried that I will not get my money back. Is this a scam website? If there are any other past customers on here that successfully got a refund could you please get in contact with me. The biggest red flag for me was under the complaints tab, the link to email us does not work.. I have been emailing the customer services person Moegamat Mugtaar Salie and have had no response in regards to a refund... Moegamat Mugtaar Salie you need to contact me immediately for my full refund!

Will not use this site again. I ordered via Amazon and book depository did not deliver. They blamed it on Amazon cancelling my order. This was untrue, they had a stock issue and didn’t have the courtesy to let me know. The book was a Christmas present and I now have no time to get it elsewhere. I have now read several reviews which also highlight books not being delivered in time by this company, be aware!! The customer service advisor Sarah Bailey was also very patronising, her email replies made me very angry!!!

Terrible. Been waiting for a parcel since the 13th December and no response. Also there shipping time is completey wrong. Don't waste your money rather spend extra and buy with a reputable company like Amazon. At this point I just want my money back

Well OK if you're in no hurry but not cheap. Delivery is meant to be free but I payed €12.14 to The Book Depository. The same book is £7.99 (free UK delivery) on Amazon. It's not free delivery. I'm paying a premium price and the 'free delivery' took 29 days. Maybe it was delivered by a Book Depository delivery person, in person, on foot? I could've walked it quicker.

I don’t think I’ve EVER had such poor service from so many people in customer service of any other company. The Book Depository is a totally dishonest company which gives false information to customers at the time of purchase, and then doesn’t complete on what it says it will do. The customer service department is filled with people who do not read what is sent properly, then they answer completely different questions and give entirely bad service in every way, including rudeness. Now that I know what a disgraceful company it is, I will not be using it again. One of my books never turned up despite emails saying it had been sent (but non-existent arrival date of three weeks after they had originally said it would arrive) and I had to resort to my payment card to get the money back. No apology or anything from Thebookdepository despite numerous requests for feedback on their services ha ha! I suppose they hope you will just forget it hasn't arrived. Never again - even though their prices seem very competitive. There is no way of knowing if what they are selling is what they actually have to sell - they are part of Amazon apparently!

This company don't even deserve a star. I've been waiting on my order since November, it was a book for my little girls Christmas, which I'll now need to try and find last minuet elsewhere, if I can. This is exactly what I was trying to avoid by ordering a month in advance. I hope you are happy with yourself. What a let down. Wont order from you again. Here's hoping another reliable company can help me!

The Book Depository have an excellent range of books, and often very good prices and availability. Postage is free, but the books will take a while to arrive, frequently not arriving in the quoted time frame. It can be a bit of a hassle getting them to deal with a book that doesn't arrive, but after you've jumped through a couple of hoops they will always make sure you get a replacement if your original order went missing. I would recommend them, just need to be a bit patient to get your order.

I usually buy books from The Book Depository through Amazon. Their prices are the best and postage incredibly low, only thing is they don't package the books extremely carefully, but at those prices one can live with an occasional bent corner.... :-D
