Great concept and great value

Really love this concept and have found the Devout to be one of the best value options out there. I find the clothes selection to be good and I appreciate that your size isn't always going to be available, so it's good to have some back up options each month. Only knocking one star off because the website can be very glitchy when searching for things and the format ends up overlapping (same issue on a PC or iphone/android phone).

Avoid at all costs, never got any clothes

Took over 10 days for my order to be dispatched. No explanation for this and no indication whether I could keep the clothes for the actual rental period or not. Customer service awfully slow to respond. Delivery provider cancelled the parcel delivery and sent it back to the company for an unknown reason. The Devout then tried to charge me for the clothes I had 'bought' from them as they were missing from the parcel. The parcel has been opened in transit and the clothes had been stolen. Absolutely dreadful service, such a shame when the concept is a good one. I have now asked for my account to be closed and deleted twice, with no success. I would avoid.

Time wasters

If zero stars was an option that is what I would rate this company at. I waited 3 weeks before contacting these jokers to see where my order was because they had not bothered to contact me only to be told a ‘machine’ had broken down and they were waiting for an engineer, I waited a few more days but it was never fixed so I had to get my money back.

Really weird and disappointing…

Really weird and disappointing experience so far. I received my first box 10 days after ordering and only because I chased for it. Items in it were fine. I've learnt now that the date you order is your renewal date so the longer the company take to send you the items the less time you have them for each month. I'm taking the advice of previous reviewers and will make sure I return my items so I can cancel on time. It's a great idea but the way it's being managed,and the answers from customer service, are unhelpful and confusing. I wouldn't recommend and can't wait to get out.

Unintentional Scam

I found The Devout as I was looking for styling services and I thought the concept of the company was great. I went for the largest box (£99) as they had an offer for half price in the first 3 moths and I felt like I needed a wardrobe reset for work. I made it through 2 boxes before things went horribly wrong. I ordered my first box in January. It took a couple of weeks to arrive but I figured that was ok as I was new to the service. I ended up only making use of the box for 3 weeks instead of a full month since I had to send it back around the monthly payment date (28th of the month). The collection and delivery of the second box was easy enough, although it took a couple of attempts. I enjoyed the items in both of my boxes so far and even bought a few. They deducted the amount from my account immediately for the items I notified them I wanted to keep. Around the 28th of February I was told to pack my box and leave it for collection and wait for the dispatch email for my new box. I didn’t mind having to wait for a fee days or even a week but time kept passing and nothing was happening. The website showed the same status for my order which hadn’t been fulfilled and the February box was seating outside my flat door ready to be picked up. A few weeks in I emailed and I asked what was happening, also expecting that I would not be charged for the March box, since it was getting close to the end of the month and I had not received it. I made it clear I was happy to receive the same box in April instead as long as I was not charged for March. The reply to this was that they had issues processing orders and that the new one would be shipped soon (2 weeks later, it still hasn’t). I was also informed I would not be able to get a full refund but a 50% one since I was still in possession of the previous box (the one that had been all packed and ready to go, the one I had not been able to use because they hadn’t informed me no one was coming to pick it up, if anything they told me it was getting collected soon). I replied that I did not think it was fair for me to get charged for a box that, in my view, was not mine anymore and I hadn’t used at all. I was told they might give me a refund if I send it by the 28th before I get billed again. (Also, the only way to stop your subscription is to send your box back FIRST. You cannot stop the payments and then send their box to them.) At every single step I was told as little information as possible and the process got dragged for ages to the point where it got to the 26th and I still didn’t have information on how to send their box back since they don’t collect returns. I was being send emails telling me to complete a return label that never got attached, then being sent patronising replies when I tried to state it was not working. After days of trying to figure things out through the website I finally emailed back and told them there was no link for the label and I didn’t not understand how I was meant to return my box. They admitted to not having sent me the link and send me the link this time around, insisting I had to get the return sent THAT DAY or I would not get my refund (by this point it was the 28th afternoon). I am a teacher, I do not have access to the post office other than on the weekend if I’m lucky. The whole point of me getting this box is that I don’t have time to go shopping. Obviously, there was no way to get Royal Mail to pick up my parcel on the same evening. I explained this and they told me I have to do it by tomorrow (29th). Today is the 29th and I spend most of my morning and early afternoon trying to get the customer support person I have been talking to to actually tell me how to create a label for drop off, since collection is only available when I am not home. I will have to pay the postage to them from my own pocket, although they did offer to cover it once they have proof of postage. Again, I get home around 8pm on most days, and I will have to carry a large box around in the rain, wasting more time of my evening trying to get their mess up sorted out. On top of it all, they have been trying to charge me the £99 monthly fee as my subscription hasn’t been cancelled by them yet. There has been no clarification as to what they would be refunding or if I’m getting any money back for the March box I didn’t get to have. At this point I am furious at the lack of communication and the way the situation was dealt with. I think the original business idea was great and had massive potential but this company manages to turn it into a scam by being willing to take your money first but not attend to your issues if you don’t pester them. It is more effort to have to deal with sorting out this mess than it would had been to do some online shopping, and considering the fact they’re still trying to charge me for a lack of service it’s not cheaper either.

Great product HORRIBLE Service. Many flaws in the service.

The products is wonderful but the service is HORRIBLE. I joined them on January 25th and ordered my clothes, I subscribed for the 10 garment plan at £99.00 per month. The lack of available sizes particularly for men was a little irritating but I loved the concept so I stayed with it. My husband and I share a plan. I had just a few things I wished to discuss with them so I sent them an email to request that they give me a quick call. I'm extremely busy and phone calls are easier. I couldn't find a number to call. They messaged me back saying they can't call me. The issues I had were small at first such as delivery taking longer than 5 days for two out of my three months. The other was that on my first delivery they shorted me a garment and were supposed to include n extra in another shipment. I also wanted a better understanding of the correlation between the date my card was charged and the date my order was placed. It seemed to me that the way the plans are set up the delivery dates kept on getting later. With most subscriptions this is not a problem but in this case as you have to return the first product at the same time you recieve a new product it can cause confusion and you automatically loose days. These are customer service concerns I would have liked to discuss with someone. The first delivery I recieved within 5 days but my second delivery I recieved in 6 days and my third I received in 9 days. A little inconsistant but also loss of usability. Last but not least when I cancelled the subscription as I couldn't talk to anybody they said the clothes need to be in their possession by the original payment date and also that I need to deliver them to DPD as they will not be picked up. So when you cancel they do NOT give you the 5 day grace period for delivery that they ask you for. I felt from a customer service point this was a bit of an insult. I think this is a great idea but encouraging feedback could easily take care of the issues I mentioned above plus more. There are many flaws in the service. All I wanted was a call back.
