I've tried many e-mail services over the years, some paid, some free. I tried Proton Mail early last year after one of my contacts insisted on encrypted communication (I'm not exactly sure why). Anyway, I ended up really enjoying the Proton Mail! They have great customer service as well: I paid my account several times with credits from a referral. But I was short this month and didn't have the cash to fully pay my invoice. I contacted support and received a reply within hours stating that they gave me enough credits to pay my account. Wow!! Highly recommended!

It is the best mail service provider. Support is also good. Worth it.

I have been a paid protonmail user for 9 years now, I saw them growing and adding new functionality on a regular basis and the service got better and better as time moved on. I was really surprised with the amount of negative reviews on here and I just came here to give some sort of balancing review. My feeling is that the majority of customers that leave negative reviews are not aware on why protonmail is a very secure mailprovider. First of all they can't access your mail.. So if you lose your password you can not read your old mail anymore, YOU are responsible for your own password and it is encrypted and decrypted on YOUR device which makes it very secure. Furthermore there a lot of people complaining that the FREE email service they have been using has been suspended. I am not so sure they didn't do anything that went into the TOS of Proton, which all of you clicked AGREE on. Normally I do not rant like this and I am not a Proton Fanboy by any means, because I also think that some of the reviews have a legitimate complaint if the Customerservice takes a long time to respond for paying customers. I DO want to stress that in my 9 years of being a customer I did not have any issues using Protonmail it almost always worked for me without any issues. With one exception but that was a disruption at Proton side which they kept us informed of diligently. I just want to stress that for me Proton has been a reliable partner in my mail, password keeper and VPN needs. And some of the people who write negative reviews here have to be somewhat more critical towards themselves as well. Thank you proton for the first 9 years of service!

I had a pretty difficult question about how the private key used for decrypting my email was stored. I got a complete answer from Valentino, that remove any doubt that I was having. Thanks !
