SumUp – Cashback, Rebates & Rewards

I bought two Sumup devices to bring forward my business, both of them are dead now. After not using the devices for some time, they get automatically blocked, they cannot be restored, and need to be thrown to the bin. So first of all, this is environmental nonsense. Second, I, as a customer get not warned about this behaviour enough to prevent it. Only in the german online manual the company writes (this is missing on the UK website): "To ensure optimal processing speed, make sure that your card reader always operates with a charge of 25% and more. We recommend that you charge your SumUp Air at least once a month, even if you don't use it regularly." Reaching customer support they defended this mechanism and said it was my fault not to charge it enough. First of all, this has nothing to do with processing speed (the formulation is pure creative lie, its simply defective), and second it is not a recommendation for sure, but an imperative must. I was not proactively informed about this, and if I had known it, I would not have bought those units. The company offers a new unit within a year of the purchase. I suspect that most bricked devices are not claimed within that year as usage is likely high the first year the device is bought, but thats my assumption. I do not recommend this company as they hide a fundamental technical flaw behind the cloak of a security mechanism and all devices are doomed to die after some time of non-usage.

Device Blocked! Today my card reader displayed a Device Blocked message. After contacting support I was told it had been roughly handled, dropped or tampered with (it definitely had not!) and that I need to buy a new device! No other options just 15 minutes of my time I will never get back. I will happily buy a new device but most certainly not from Sum Up!

Very awful company, you will never get through to some one who can actually deal with your issues. They take your money for their devices don't send them out and then no one can assist you on the phone, they then close your account for reasons that do not make any legal sense and when requesting a call back to discuss even after providing documentation which they never acknowledge they leave your business stuck for days on end. My advice safe yourself the headache go somewhere else..

Device is blocked. Answer from Sumup supporet (his name is often Sam) : "Unfortunately, once we see that message means that the card reader is no longer able to be used. So I would advise ordering a new one from the website or go to a near store a buy a new one" Great support. Unbelivable that they are still in business.

This company has the most diabolical customer services. You can only talk to someone through a chat line, which takes forever and is very little help. First you get Sam and then Ellen and they just regurgitate standard lines from FAQs. Totally impersonal. We have had a device for just under a year and out of no where it suddenly says device blocked and cannot be used, leaving us short for a fireworks event tonight.

After a quick registration, I immediately began to process payments. The first payment was successfully received in my bank account. A second payment was sent next, after which I received a letter in the mail, in which it was said that I needed to provide documents and confirm my business, but for now I can use the account up to 5000 pounds. I answered them that the documents would be provided in the near future, after which I received a letter about the blocking of my account, in which it was said that my account was blocked forever. Do not trust this service, a service of scammers and deceivers!

Several weeks ago I reviewed #Sumup after my Sumup account was plundered of £4730,58 . To date no constructive contact with Sumup except a weasel words apology and requesting the details. Sumup have really cornered the market in crap customer service. If you have an issue with them the only form of communication is bots ?!emails and holding on a phone line until someone cuts you off . However I've discovered that I'm just one of many being screwed by sumup .I ain't finished with them yet

very happy with the services, especially with card reader as it provides very easy and comfortable payment solution. mobile aplication is easy to use. I am very happy to find alternative provider to our previous business card reader.

I am really astonished by reading negative feedback: my experience with SUMUP has been terrific: very easy to create and manage the account, money transfer done always on time, when I asked for support the customer service was very supportive....According to my experience nothing could be better, till now!
